For those that can remember back that far (and those that were even born), Crate actually made guitar amplifiers that looked like wooden crates in the late 1970s. Crate manufactures both tube type and solid-state amps.
With guitarists like Joe Walsh, Billy Gibbons, Jerry Douglas and Mark Knopfler plugging into Crate guitar amps, I'd say that you'd be in pretty good company when playing through a Crate guitar amp.
