I just placed an order for yet another upgrade of a piece of software that I've been using for many, many years. I guess I got on board with the PG Music line of products soon after they hit the market...and am I ever glad I found out about this software.
I believe I was looking for a software sequencer when I ran across Power Tracks Pro in a magazine, probably Electronic Musician. Anyway, it had an impressive list of features, but one thing it didn't have was a high price. IT WAS $19, yep, $19 DOLLARS!! Needless to say, I placed my order and have been a loyal PG Music customer ever since.
After I looked into their products a little more, I saw that they also had a cool program called Band In A Box. Even way back then, I guess it was the early nineties, this was an unbelievable piece of engineering. It was exactly what I was looking for...a band, but, well, without the 'band'. All the great things about having a band, but none of the bad. No one to fight with, no one being late or not showing up for a practice or gig. No one drinking all your beer or eating all your food.
Here a decade and a half later, or thereabouts, I've upgraded my Power Tracks Pro (now Power Tracks Pro Audio), and my Band In A Box (which has evolved also) many times over. PG Music doesn't just bump the version number up, add a couple of lame upgrades and stick a price tag on it. They actually offer good, useful improvements.
Also, I've mentioned Power Tracks Pro Audio and Band In A Box, but the list of offerings from PG Music (The PG stands for 'Peter Gannon' btw, the man behind the PG Music company) goes on and on.
If you want to learn to play an instrument, say maybe the guitar, piano/keyboards, saxophone, trumpet, bass or drums, they've got software for you. Just want to listen to some great music ? There's software that you'll enjoy for that also.
I mentioned the evolution of the Band In A Box program, well the newest addition to the lineup is actually a combination of the BIAB and PTPA programs. I've only read about the 'RealBand' program on the PG Music site up to this point, but I should have my own copy in hand in the next few days. The good thing for most people...if you place an order, most everything digital is available for immediate download, even though you can, for a very small $5 mail fee, have the CDs shipped to you. My problem is, I'M STILL ON DIALUP INTERNET ACCESS!! I guess I'm still living in the dark ages, but hopefully I'll have wireless access in the next year or so.
So I don't have to type a small book here in trying to list all the different programs available at pgmusic.com. Why don't you go have a look, you'll be impressed. Nearly all genres of music are covered also, at least everything I have any interest in...rock, blues, jazz, pop etc. When you get into the 'STYLES' of the accompaniment within the BIAB (RealBand) products, there's more genres than you ever even knew existed!!
I don't get a commission on any sales generated via this site/article. I just truly love the PG Music products and like spreading the word. I once (2 upgrades ago) bought the 'OmniPAK', that's every software product that was available at the time. I've got enough software/music to keep someone busy for a long, long time. There's more riffs, licks, jazz, rock, classical, recording, mixing and everything else musical than you can shake a stick at.
Go have a look at PG Music, download the demos, look at the screenshots and listen to the great music that comes from the PG Music products...I PROMISE YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!
