Takamine is an interesting story. The instrument maker started as a small family business in 1960s Japan at the base of Takamine Mountain in Sakashita, Japan. After starting to do business overseas in 1975, their guitars slowly become known. I can remember around the early 1980s that many people assumed that they were just a cheap import.
As the Takamine quality became known, top musicians began playing these fine instruments. Today Takamine makes some of the finest guitars to be found in their respective price ranges.
