The Best Course for Learning to Play the Guitar – Learn and Master Guitar

Although I don't recommend many instructional products on this site, as it is mainly a resource for finding quality music equipment at the best possible auction prices, I thought the Learn and Master Guitar course should be an exception.

There are a few courses for learning the guitar that I do recommend, but this is, by far, the one I would recommend first as a complete, well-rounded course with the most information and best quality instruction. I should also note that it has actually been awarded two Telly Awards for excellence in the categories of Education and Use of Music. This is very impressive stuff.

Learn & Master Guitar includes  20 professionally produced DVDs, 5 Jam-Along CDs, a 100+ page lesson book, and a free online student support site. Many courses these days are leaning towards becoming totally online instruction or just downloadable information (PDFs) or 'just' videos. There is obviously nothing wrong with this type of information, but having the DVDs, CDs the lesson book AND the online student support site that Learn and Master Guitar offers, is the way to go.

If you've yet to check out Learn and Master Guitar, there's quite detailed information at the company site.

The course is from Legacy Learning Systems, which assures you that it is going to be nothing short of the best product of it's kind. Also, the Learn and Master Guitar course features Steve Krenz as the instructor. In case you don't know who Steve is, he has been playing professionally for twenty years, and is a fantastic player.

As importantly though, he is an absolute brilliant instructor...believe me, the teacher makes a big difference. Steve is a great communicator that can convey the point that needs to be made in a clear, concise manner. I've personally never seen a better instructor in this type of course...bar none.

As good as other types of instruction can be, the video lessons on DVD, combined with the play-along CDs, and workbook offer everything that's needed for a total learning experience (don't forget the websites). The course will take a complete beginner (or intermediate) player up through the advanced level of playing. The videos are always available on the DVDs that you have right there. Just pop a DVD in the computer or DVD player to refresh your memory at any time. The material is timeless.

What's also cool is that once you purchase the course, you have access to the student support and community websites that you can go to at any time. Steve Krenz is often online answering questions and offering tips and encouragement. You can post recordings and get feedback from the well over 6,000 active members. We've come a long way from when I first started learning to play!!

Well, I won't write a book on this tremendous offering, but one last thing I want to make you aware of. The original Learn and Master Guitar course was released in June 2006 and contained (10) DVDs...the new course for 2008 has (20) DVDs!! It's the same great course, only now with twice as many songs and exercises, and even more detailed instruction.

If you're serious about playing the guitar, please go check this course out. I can promise you that it will be the best decision that you ever make regarding your guitar education.

P.S. Please go have a look at the bio of Steve Krenz also. Steve isn't some corner music shop 'instructor' that knows a few tunes to impress the kids. This guy is THE REAL DEAL. He has the credentials that you want in a teacher.
