The Washburn guitar company has been making guitars in Chicago since 1883. Washburn was deeply involved in the 'Delta Blues' movement starting in the 1920s in Chicago. The blues development was a direct result of a heavy influx of African-Americans to the area. This different genre of the blues would change the blues in general, and also rock'n roll forever. It was also a big help to the success of Washburn guitars.
Washburn manufactures electric and acoustic guitars, electric basses, banjos, mandolins, travel guitars, and amplifiers. There is also an extensive accessory line of products including guitar cases, clothing, and other parts like tuners, pick ups, and straps.
Washburn is most notable for it's electric and acoustic guitars, producing 8 different series of both electric and acoustic models.
